HIKING PACKAGE: MAGICAL MYSTERY / HISTORY TOUR:
7 days – 6 nights
Come join us and experience the history and mystery of the greater Yellowstone region of Northwestern Wyoming. You'll want to be sure to bring your camera as you stand in awe before natural and manmade wonders that will challenge your mind and at times your body. Take home with you knowledge of a special place on Earth and memories that will last a lifetime.
Itinerary:
Day 1 – Arrive in Cody and be greeted by your host and guide Kenny Gasch. If you are flying into Cody (Yellowstone Regional Airport) we'll pick you up! He will get you settled in at Bison Willy's Base Camp, a European-style guest house located in the heart of Cody. Relax and sit back your first evening in Cody while we do the work. Sip on your favorite beer or wine compliments of Bison Willy's while you nibble on hor'dourves prepared by one of Cody's finest caterers. Following you will be served a gourmet meal also prepared by Janet while getting to know one another. You'll then want to get a good nights sleep because the following day your adventure begins.
Day 2 – Fix yourself breakfast from the large selection of items stocked at the Base Camp for your convenience or dine out one of the local restaurants or coffee shops. Many are within walking distance. Lunch will be prepared for you. Kenny will pick you up at 9:00 A.M. and you'll be escorted out to the Heart Mountain trailhead. There Kenny will lead you on a 7.2 mile round trip hike to the summit of the greatest geological mystery on the North American continent. This is a semi-strenuous hike up 2560 feet to the top of 8123 ft. Heart Mountain. From the summit the 360-degree view will leave you spellbound. You'll learn about the flora and fauna that abound on the mountain and why it is such a geological mystery. After completing the 6 hour trip you'll be transported back to the Base Camp to relax and enjoy refreshments and a great meal.
Day 3 – Fix yourself a hearty breakfast as we will be headed West up the North Fork of the Shoshone River for a new adventure. Lunch will once again be prepared for you. You will be picked up at 9:00 A.M. by Bob Richard of Grubsteak Expeditions and escorted 50 miles West of Cody into the heart of the Absaroka mountains. Be prepared for a very strenuous hike as Kenny will lead you up a steep, talus and timber covered slope to a plateau where you will lay eyes on yet another great mystery, an ancient stone arrow 60 feet in length and approximately 2 feet in height. The purpose and the origin of the arrow are a complete mystery. Very few people know where this arrow is or of it's existence. It's safe to say less people have visited this site than have summited Mt. Everest. Upon returning to the valley floor, Bob will pick you up and take you to one of the many rustic log lodges in the valley for refreshments and a hearty meal around a fire.
Day 4 – Breakfast will be prepared for you as you enjoy a morning cup of coffee while you drink in the beauty of the Absaroka Mountain Range and the surrounding wilderness. At 9:00 A.M., Bob will escort you 3 miles to the East entrance of Yellowstone National Park. Once you enter the park, Bob will then drive you through the park on one of the 3 options available to you. We offer Northern route, Southern route, or Teton tours. (Hiking can also be added for an additional fee) Sit back and enjoy the scenery while Bob gives you an in depth narrative of the regions mystery and history. After a full day of sight seeing you will once again return to the lodge for refreshments and dinner.
Day 5 – Same as day 4 only take a different loop tour. Leave the park and drive back to Bison Willy's Base Camp where Janet will again have dinner prepared.
Day 6 – Fix yourself an early breakfast as today you will be headed East to the Big Horn Mountains. Lunch will once again be provided. Bob will pick you up at 8:00 A.M. and will drive you approximately 70 miles to the top of the Big Horn Mountains where you will be taken to the Medicine wheel. Again, this man made stone wonder is shrouded in mystery in one of Gods truly spectacular settings. After experiencing the beauty and wonder of the Big Horn Mountains you'll be taken back to Cody where you can finish out the day shopping, site seeing, or just relaxing. An afternoon at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center is offered at no additional charge. Cocktails and dinner will await you upon your return to the Base Camp.
Day 7 – Spend a leisurely morning getting ready to depart. Check out time is noon.

BOULDERING
The bouldering surrounding the Cody area is truly a well kept secret and well worth devoting some time to. With problems ranging from five feet in height to 25 feet and areas composed of granite, limestone, and sandstone, you'll be sure to find something to suit your ability level and favorite style of climbing. The majority of problems lie on the sandstone covered hill sides flanking the Shoshone river upon entering the canyon just west of town. Summer and winter zones exist on either side with problems ranging from VB to V11 and beyond.
The limestone and granite areas are deeper into the canyon, just before entering the tunnels, worth a quick stop if you've got the time. The majority of the problems are on Cedar Mountain though, starting literally 20 feet off the highway, climbing all the way up to the sandstone cliff band 3/4's up the mountain. Heavily concentrated pockets of boulders litter the hillsides with four star problems in all grade ranges. Whether you're after scary hard slabs, desperate overhung test-pieces, or just fun circuiting on big holds, you'll find enough to keep you busy for a long time.
