| Bison Willy's was birthed from the concept of providing clean, comfortable, convenient lodging for a price most everyone could live with.
It all started the winter of 1999-2000, as an ice climbers hostel located 40 miles outside of Cody, Wy. located at the Double Diamond X Ranch. Kenny Gasch and his late wife Carrie leased the girls bunkhouse from the DDX for the winter season and opened Bison Willy's Bunkhouse. It immediately became a hit with the climbers that came to the valley and grew at an impressive rate every year.
The whole concept was so successful that on December 1st, 2004, Kenny and Carrie purchased property in the city of Cody and spent the winter remodeling several buildings. On May 1st, 2005 these two buildings were opened as Bison Willy's Base Camp and Bison Willy's Spike Camp.
The Base Camp and Spike Camp are open year round and have become a place where people from all over the world come and stay while enjoying Cody, Yellowstone Park, and the surrounding area. Unfortunately Carrie succumbed to complications from breast cancer on November 10th, 2006, but the dream lives on in her memory. Kenny is as determined as ever to continue the tradition Bison Willy's established in 1999.
And where did the name "Bison Willy's" come from you ask? It's a play on words for Buffalo Bill. |
